 | | Q: What is theology? posted by sharck on 15-Aug-2007 at 3:52 am | | A: Answer this question | | | | | | A: Theology is a Greek word, theos, "God", + logos, "rational discourse", "knowledge", "study", "science", so, literally, Theology is the science of God, as Biology is the science of life. Aristotle already spoke about three sciences: Mathematics, Philosophy and Theology.

| | A: Theology is the way in which we put together our faith in God, our knowledge of God, and our experience of God in order to make meaningful statements about who God is (in the fullness of the Trinity) and what God’s creative and salvific purposes are in the world.
Most tend to think of theology in the context of modern religions traditions, but the concept dates back to ancient Greece. Philosophers like Plato and Aristotle used it in to reference the study of the Olympian gods and the writings of authors like Homer. The earliest theological works in Christianity were written by church fathers who attempted to construct coherent frameworks through which people could better understand the nature of God’s revelations to humanity through Jesus.
