Click here to see Eve's profileA: Oooh... I have a pinot noir that I just love these days. It's called Concannon, and you can get it at Safeway or Andronico's type stores for ten bucks a bottle! It's big (for a pinot) with nice ripe fruit and just enough tannon. A real bargain.

Click here to see wonder's profileA: I enjoy Australian wines - there are some good ones under $15 such as: Lindemans Bin 50 Shiraz 2005 and Yellow Tail Cabernet - Merlot 2005.

Click here to see artshrink's profileA: My current favorite red wine under $15 is McManis Syrah 2005. Last year it was their Petite Sirah 2004. I am not impressed with Yellowtail, Barefoot, Charles Shaw or Napa River. All the two buck Chuck varietals are simple and occasionally terrible, but affordable. The Napa River Merlot I tried was pretty bad. The Napa River Cab was tannic and funky but not bad for the price. Barefoot is similar to Charles Shaw: simple, boring, drinkable, and cheap. I know a lot of people are crazy about Yellowtail, but in my opinion Yellowtail wines are syrupy and imbalanced, with not enough acid to pair well with most foods. The winery is clearly choosing to harvest late in order to push sugar levels and concentration, resulting in flabby, low-acid wines that taste a lot like cherry koolaid.

Click here to see Mephisto's profileA: Recently I have been enjoying Hardy's VR Shiraz 2005. It is an Australian Wine that is very reasonable, and has served me well. I would check out if your local liquor store has it.
